The Rivista Italiana di Studi sull’Umorismo (RISU) is a web-based, multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal, open source, two issues annually.

The aim of RISU is to publish outstanding research and to increasing the depth of Humor Sciences across disciplines with the ultimate aim of improving scientific research.

RISU covers all areas of HUMOR RESEARCH, including but not limited to psychology, cultural and social studies, education, communication, linguistics, literature, translation studies, medicine, and philosophy.

It is rooted in Italy, and mainly addressed to the Italian scientific community and readership, with a presence also in the international scenario: at least one article in each issue is planned to be in English by authors from countries other than Italy.

Our dedicated technical and editorial team members from different fields of humor research ensures the quality and review standard of our publications. RISU publishes original articles, letters to editor and reviews, in both Italian and English.

The average time from manuscript acceptance to the final appearance online of the fully paginated article is 62 days.

RISU is an Open Access scholarly publication. By “Open Access” to this literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution and the only role for copyright in this domain should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.

In order to promote a creator-friendly environment, RISU operates under the Creative Commons BY 4.0 license. Authors transfer publication rights to RISU but maintain the right to share their work, provided that its original publication in RISU is acknowledged

RISU does not charge publication fees or article processing fees.
